Welcome to the Caller Complaints blog! This is the forum where we will keep in touch with the Caller Complaints community, giving you insider tidbits, updates, and relevant current events. In addition to being our first blog post ever, we also have some new features to announce!
First, as you may have heard CallerComplaints.com will be the first website to publish the "Do Not Call List" complaints, courtesy of the FTC. Now search results will display the number of FTC complaints filed about each phone number along with user generated complaints. This acquisition will add over *three million* unique phone numbers to the Caller Complaints database.
Access to this data and to our comprehensive telemarketer database, is and will always remain 100% FREE, no membership required.
Second, in response to user feedback we've created a Caller Complaints widget that you may add to your website(s). The widget will connect users directly to the CallerComplaints.com community where they can see firsthand why we are considered the best online resource for researching and reporting telemarketers.
The Caller Complaints team has worked very hard to implement these changes, so we want to hear your feedback! Please contribute your thoughts by adding comments to this blog post, and check back regularly to find out more.
*If you like what we're doing, "Digg" this post and help spread the word!
Congrats and good luck.

Thanks Shaun!
how do we know your not the ones making the calls to get us to sign up in the first place.
Hey Bill, I understand your concern. Let me assure you we are definitely *NOT* affiliated with telemarketers in any way.
We published the DNCL complaints to EXPOSE telemarketers blatantly violating the Do Not Call Registry...this will always remain our goal.
If you have any other questions just let me know.
I can't help but believe that some of the calls are related to technical tampering using the phone systems for illegal purposes. Some of these calls could be setup to read key strokes or gain access to stored info within certain types of phones or phones used to access the internet especially calls that ring a few times the stop. Some receives several calls from the same # multiple times within short time spans. The calls could be cyphering or transfering data. Suppose some one has figured out a way to transfer data from one source to another. Hmmmmmmmm. Thanks for listening.
Hello, I've been trying to post a complaint here but I keep getting an error message -- just can't get it to work :-(
I wanted to have the phone number 613-232-7437 stop calling me. I'm reluctant to leave my actual e-mail on here in the event that I will get a ton of spam in my box. Sorry about that.
My real e-mail is fontgirl 2002 at sign yahoo.ca (no spaces).
Thank you! Sigrid Macdonald
Hey Sigrid, in response to your post...
1) First, make sure that you are entering all of the required fields correctly. If you are still having problems, try filing a complaint on a different computer. An "error" message may mean there's something wrong with your computer settings.
2) Have you listed your number on the DNCL? If not, sign up at www.donotcall.gov. Within 31 days you should receive fewer unsolicited phone calls.
3) CallerComplaints.com will NOT spam you if you leave your email address. We want this blog to be a utility to Caller Complaints community members, not an annoyance.
Good luck!
Hi~ I found this website, and I am going to log a complaint. However, I see lots of complaints piling up (exposure), but I can't find an explanation of what happens afterwards. How do these complaints actually STOP the telemarketers? Is there any link to the FTC or anybody to shut them down or takes action against them? Thanks.
Thanks for the comment Lori. For now, exposure is our main goal. We have already compiled an authoritative database that people use to verify telemarketer numbers, Craigslist buyers/sellers, and to warn others about harassing callers and potential scams.
CallerComplaints.com averages 350,000 + visitors per month, so you can be sure that your complaint will be seen...and it will make a difference!
We encourage all of our users to sign up with the Do Not Call Registry, at www.donotcall.gov.
A particular type of call does not receive mention on this site. Calls come in with no identifying number, sometimes indicating "unknown caller", sometimes with a location or title. How can these be traced? Another ploy used when you try to get removed from a calling list is to tell you that you have done business with an affiliated company, thus waving the "Do Not Call" status. I received a change in terms amendment from GE Credit informing me that I was about to agree to accept machine originating calls even if it resulted in charges to my phone bill--evidently a threat to cell phone users. I canceled the card. My state has a fee for robo call operators; they just ignore the law will calls all the time.
I apologize for posting this here, but I cannot get to your main page callercomplaints.com or any other page that starts with that (such as the one accessible through your Contact Us link). I get an error that "You are not authorized to view this page." It's error HTTP 403.6. I am on my home computer, so I have no idea why your site does not like my IP address. If you would forward this to your Webmaster group for assistance, I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much.
Martha - we are aware of the problem, but thanks for the comment. This issue has been reported by a number of people, and is the result of our server being overloaded by tons of traffic coming from MSNBC.com. We were featured in a front-page article this morning.
Check it out at: http://redtape.msnbc.com/
We are working furiously to fix the problem. Please check back with us soon!
I tried to use the site to input the phone numbers that call me all the time, but when I tried to post them I was directed to a page that said my ip was blocked. This is the first time I used the site and would really like to participate with the phone numbers I have. I tried contacting thru the contact us link but got the same messege.
I figure a whole range of ip's was listed in my ip range and it inadvertantly got mine. my ip is 76.226.160.173. There might be a chance that the whole Ameritech/SBC/ATT ip range got wiped out.
Your help would be appreciated
Gerold, again thanks for the comment. We are aware of these issues and they are only temporary. Our technicians are hard at work resolving the problem as we speak. If you try back a little later you shouldn't have a problem posting a complaint.
Thanks for your patience!
I just filed a complaint about the number 817-569-9576 about half an hour ago. It showed a number of complaints in the twenties over the last 7 days and my complaint showed up in the list after I submitted it. Now I've returned to that page and my complaint is gone (in fact ALL complaints from 11/11/08 are gone) and the total has dropped to 19. What's going on?
Thank you for letting us know about this problem. Unfortunately this was a result of the server issues that we experienced this morning. We were thrilled to be featured on the MSNBC homepage, but it has resulted in a huge spike in traffic causing unforeseen technical difficulties.
We apologize for the inconvenience! Now you should be able to post successfully.
Thanks,
Julie
I just received a call from "Metrobridge Net" number 801-226-8330 where the recording said that there was possible fraudulent charges on my VISA account. I was to press "1" to speak to a representative.
I hung up and called my VISA company, who stated that it is a SCAM and that my VISA account is fine.
Remember, DONT EVER give out your info on the phone.
For those that are getting multiple calls, esp. from Chase Bank: The Fair Debt Collection Law spells out exactly what they can do, namely, they can contact a relative ONE time to attempt to locate someone with a delinquent account. If they call a second time, politely remind them of this and offer to report the company and representative to the FTC as a violation. They were calling my wife about oour daughter's credit card, and I finally answered and let them know that I had requested and received a copy of the law from the FTC, and that I was going to ask for the $5000. per call annoyance fee that the law allowed. They haven't called back since.
I love Caller Complaints! I come here all the time to list all the telemarketers that call me. Now that there's this huge database of these 'trespassers' it should help us fight back!
