Confused about how the Do-Not-Call Registry applies to cell phones? Youre not alone. An email warning has been circulating for years incorrectly claiming that cell phone numbers have been or are about to be released to telemarketers.
Here is an example:
This rumor has, not surprisingly, fueled uncertainty about the government's policy regarding cell phones and the Do-Not-Call Registry. So here's the truth (from the FTC website):
*Cell phone numbers have not NOT been released to telemarketers.
*Telemarketers are prohibited from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers. Since automated dialers are standard in the industry, most telemarketers don't bother calling consumers on their cell phones without consent.
*Associations representing telemarketers have stated their members do not intend to start calling consumers' cell phones.
*There is only ONE Do-Not-Call Registry. There is no separate registry for cell phones and no deadline to register.

I received teh 'captain calling' call on my cell phone a few weeks ago. I figured if I spoke with someone, and refused to take the survey, but insisted on being removed from their list, it might reduce their calls. It worked. But they should have never called my cell phone in the first place.
And I'm tired of receiving the 'this is your last chance to reduce your credit card interest rate', and the 'captain calling' on my work phone. I caught the last one, and told them to remove me from their list. I just pressed 0 all the way through the survey, got passed through to the person to 'receive my tickets' for my 'free' cruise, and when I spoke to the person, I said I didn't want the tickets, I wanted to be removed from their list. Stupid, to have to waste 2 minutes of my time trying to bypass their survey, but I got off their list, so I got what i wanted.
I call complete BS on telemarketers avoiding cell phones. Since I got my phone just one month ago I've already had to report four numbers right to this very site.
I think all these calls need to be brought up too the BBB in your area let them take over

Let's simplify this: ALL telemarketers are scammers, thieves, and criminals. Do not answer the call if you don't recognize the number.
In your cellphone make one MP3 recording of silence, and set that as your default ring. Assign your favorite MP3 as your real ring tone and assign it to everyone programmed into your phone. This way, your phone will only ring from people you know, everyone else will go to voice mail.
The only reason telemarketers and spammers exist is because YOU make it profitable. Assume they are all criminals and eventually they will all go away. Never open spam, never speak to a telemarketer. If you know someone working as a telemarketer, shun them.
Not only are these people calling my land line phone and refusing to stop calling me. they are using my cell phone numbers now.444-444-4444 Why isn't a persons privacy protected.
If you get a call its because sometime in the past you put your phone number on a business opportunity form somewhere. To be removed, simply press the number on the message that will take you off.
If you have posted you number on your website, your considered a business and fair game. Thats the law.
Simply learn the telemarketers rules and your hassles will go away.

TURN THE TABLES. WHEN YOU GET CALLED, CALL BACK. Okay, I have HAD IT. This may be the world we live in, it doesn't meanwe have to take it laying down, or is it lying down? I am a semi-intelligent person, a couple of degrees, which last time I have checked hasn't doen me one bit of good as I am in biz. for myself not utilizing either of my degrees and that ws by accident. So, anyways nuff bout' me. I have been taking all these phone numbers and calling them back. Of couse I *67 first (don't know if that does NY good or not), but, I do it anyway - and I dial their numbers back. Check this out. 2 out of 6 are actual phone numbers where actual idiots answer. So, check it. I call them - sing, burp, dog whistle, whistele whistle, scream, growl, fart, suggest the Rosetta stone for those who can't even answer the phone in English (this is a fun one), offer a new car warranty, offer debt consolidation, tell them I am from Nigeria and I have $1 million big ones for them, or my favorite - SILENCE. Oh, yeah, my other favorite, is heavy breathing and saying 'chhhh chhh chhh - kill -kill -kill' you know, from Friday 14th. I haven't been able to replicate nails on a chalk board without ripping the hair out of my scalp and the whiskers out of my cats cheeks. (no, I don't touch the cats, but damn - nails on a chalk board is some serious biznizz people! I am registered on teh DNC registry - I am now reporting every single email I get that is unwarranted. I forward them to a fake email and then reply to all, delete my original email addy and any other identifying markers then when I am at the library, I email them back about 9 gazillion times, now, 99% of them are phoney emails. BUT a couple of the phone numbers go to the actual people who answer and I pretend to be an official (to waht capacity I can not tell you because I will have to kill you). Yes, this is extreme, however, extreme tiems call for extreme measures this is ridiculous, so, I pick one day a week in which I am free to do what I wish. I go to town and now, when I call excessivly, I get a busy tone, or dead air, and my favorite, 'this number has been disconnected', ironically, I get a recording " this number has been disconnected or is no longer in service". So, if you give me some of your phone numbers that harass you - I will, at no charge, call these bastards on your behalf. And of course MINE. Plus, they will be listed on Craigslitst - I will keep posting until I get 'fired' from posting on Craigslist. Just do it, it will make you feel good. POWER TO THE PEOPLE. ON THE 312 NUMBER, YOU JUST PICK '0', OR '1', OR WHATEVER, JUST GET SOMEONE TO SCREW WITH. ON THE 213 NUMBER, IT DOESN'T EVEN RING. IT JUST GOES RIGHT TO SOMEONE. GO FOR IT! IT IS LIBERATING. And these little miserable people have no clue.. I am just bitter because I don't get paid to take advantage of people, and I take no enjoyment in practicing 'an eye for an eye'.

i dont think they restrict the celphone coz these number keep calling on my celphone these are the annoying callers 228-209-9560, and 402-982-0750
I'm constantly getting calls and text messages on my cell phone from telemarketers. Putting the number on the DNC registry does not help. The only solution is to block them. I've just block all calls from area codes 949, 323 and 562. It goes straight to voicemail. If someone really wants to talk to me they'll leave a VM. It's interesting that they never do so I guess they're all telemarketers. I only wish there was a way that I can block those text messages since they come through and it is using up my monthly allotment of free text msgs.
I have had one call to my cell phone and I asked them why in the heck are they calling my cell phone for this was a cell phone number and not to bother calling it again. I did mention to them if they did not take this number off of their list then I was going to report them to the BBB about it. They never did bother to call back again. With my regular phone service I am able to block certian about of calls; but I think they find away around it and use another number. Telemarketers today has gotten way out of hand. I know it's some body's job but still when it's time to be with your family I would rather spend that free time doing so.
